The Twelve Imams are among the most honoured members of the Ahlul-Bait (the family of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family). They are the divinely appointed successors of the Prophet and serve as spiritual and moral guides for the Muslim community.
The first of them is Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS), the cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet. The remaining Imams are his noble descendants through Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (SA), the daughter of the Prophet.
Each Imam is distinguished by divine virtues such as infallibility, unmatched knowledge, and spiritual authority. They uphold the same mission as the Prophet, guiding the ummah with truth and justice, without receiving new revelation.
Eleven of the Imams were martyred. The twelfth, Imam al-Mahdi (AJTF), is in occultation and will reappear by God’s will to establish peace and equity across the world.
